"June Gloom" by The Like is the first song I listened to from Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking?. It has come to be one of my very favorite albums and whenever I take the time to listen I almost never skip a single one of the songs. 2005 was a great year for music.
"Turn The Page" by Metallica is one of the only songs from them I like. Garage, inc. is pretty good the only Metallica album I come back to listen to. I don't think they're a bad band, but most of the music I'm not a huge fan of.
"I Am God" is by Virgin Prunes, being the 3rd track on The Moon Looked Down and Laughed. The Moon Looked Down and Laughed is the Virign Prunes' second studio album, also being their last. Between their second and first (...If I Die, I Die), I listen to the latter more but it's hard to determine which is actually my "favorite". I guess there does not need to be favorites. Anyways, great rock band.
"Virtual Star Embryology " (or, "Virtual Star Hasseigaku") is the second closing theme of Utena, and is featured in the second album Virtual Star Embryology as the first track. The linked video is the TV length version as it plays during the closing sequence, I just wanted to share that sequence. The full length version is very impressive, and out of the two closing themes it's personally preferred by me. Virtual Star Embryology has a third version that is featured in the 25th episode where it plays as the duel chorus for the last fight against Saionji. That duel marks the beginning of the Akio Arc (It's the 7th track of CD 3 Internal Clock, Municipal Orrery).
"El Plan" from Alaska y Los Pegamoides' Grandes Éxitos is one of my particular favorites from the album. As of (6/22/24) their single Bailando is 42 years old, happy birthday week. (Grandes Éxitos was released in October of the same year.)
"The Beast" from Concrete Blonde's Bloodletting is the first song I listened to when I changed my Windows Media Player skin to the Halo 2 theme. One of my top favorite songs from the album.
I hope Master Chief enjoyed it, too.
" Magic Lantern Butterfly Moth 16th Century " (Gentouchouga Juuroku Seiki) is the theme for Wakaba's duel during the second arc, Black Rose. (Also, it's featured on Virtual Star Embryology as the 7th track. That's the second Utena soundtrack CD.) I believe I can understand Wakaba's struggle with her emotions, such as her fears and resulting anger from the rift between her and those with supposed greatness given from birth. The story of Pyrrhus freezing in his sword strike against the old king and Utena unable to bring The Sword of Dios against Wakaba together makes it my favorite duel song overall.
"Cradle of Forest" is the ending song to Silent Hill 4: THE ROOM. Silent Hill's 4th game might be my favorite out of the Silent Hill series. It has some of my favorite vocal and atmospheric tracks, even if the total setting isn't directly in the town of Silent Hill. I like staying inside, but having the whole option of being able to leave my apartment might be too far. "Cradle of Forest" is my personal favorite vocal track in the games. Joe Romersa has exceptional writing and vocal skills.
